Arroyo Grande de Quebrada (Manzano Histórico - Tunuyán)

Enjoy a fishing day at typical mountain stream surrounded by a stunning scenario. Arroyo Grande poses a challenge for fishermen because its crystalline waters keep a wide variety of rainbow and brook wild trout.

ITINERARY

We leave Mendoza at 8 am and arrive at El Manzano Histórico at 10 am approximately. While we arrange the fishing equipment, our assistant will provide us with a variety of regional cold meat and cheese. The entire morning shall be devoted to a prep-talk and an in-river demonstration of the most important points which must be considered for successful fishing.

At 1 pm we take a break to enjoy a traditional asado (barbecue) on the banks of the river accompanied with famous wines from Mendoza and good friends.

After lunch we will continue fishing at a higher area trying to capture larger fish.

At 7 pm we finish fishing and after a snack we set off on the return journey to arrive to Mendoza at around 9 pm.

Fishing season: all year

Ice trout…

Laguna del Diamante

Laguna del Diamante is one of Mendoza's most beautiful geographical features and a stunning location to spend the day fishing.

ITINERARY

We take a one-day trip south west deep into the heart of the Andes. We leave Mendoza at 6 am and reach the lake at 10 am, approximately. The trip is in a 4X4 and the road becomes a dirt track of switch-backs that peak at 3,800 masl. We then descend into a beautiful valley and catch sight of this stunning high altitude lake (3,300 masl) overlooked by the snowcapped Maipo volcano. Here we fish in the crystal clear lake for brook trout. We also enjoy a picnic lunch of cold meats, cheeses and wine in an area famous for its scenery and Andean wildlife, including notably eagles, condors and guanacos. We try a wide variety of wines including Torrontés and Malbec. During the morning, we fish in the lake using sinking lines with streamers and nymphs. Here, we will find plenty of medium-sized brook and some bigger rainbow and brown trout. At 1 pm we stop for lunch and after that we continue fishing in the Diamante River, where we will have the opportunity to practice dry and nymph fishing. We head back to Mendoza at 5 pm and arrive at 10 pm, approximately.

Fishing season: January to March

Silent, precious calm…

Potrerillos Dam

It’s been a couple of years now since Potrerillos Dam became a great choice for fishing, only an hour away from Mendoza city. This is the place to find huge rainbow and brown trout, as well as fontinalis.

ITINERARY

We leave Mendoza at 8 am and drive for an hour to the village of Potrerillos, which is located on the Mendoza River, one of the most important rivers in the province. The dam was built four years ago as a means of regulating the supply of water flowing from the Andes to Mendoza. The north shore and the submerged forest are the best spots with excellent fishing during the entire year. We use rafts and float tubes in both locations. At 1pm we stop for lunch and enjoy a typical argentinean asado (barbecue) accompanied with Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon wines from Mendoza. Afterwards, we continue fishing until 7 pm. We arrive back in Mendoza at 8.30 pm, approximately.

Fishing season: all year

Isolation in company…

El Sosneado Lake

El Sosneado lake is located in the heart of the Andes, near Las Lágrimas glacier and El Sosneado peak. The famous accident suffered by the Uruguayan plane upon which the film Alive was based occurred here. This beautiful place has an excellent population of wild rainbow trout weighing in between 2 and 6 pounds - a challenge to our team and fishermen in general.

ITINERARY

We leave Mendoza at 6 am and reach the lake at 10 am, approximately. While we arrange the required equipment for our activities, our guide will delight our senses with a great variety of cold regional cheeses and meats. During the morning, we will fish from our boat in an area full of wild vegetation which renders the area productive.

At noon, we go back to the side of the river, where our assistant will wait for us with a traditional asado (barbecue) and a wide variety of famous wines from Mendoza. Then, we will go on fishing until 7 pm. We arrive in Mendoza at midnight.

Fishing season: November to May.
